I’ve been doing data entry from home for a litigation support company for 5 years but would like to expand into the medical field of billing/coding because the legal work isn’t constant enough.
How much school is necessary to get a degree in medical billing and coding and how easy is it to get a job in this field?
If you have data entry experience, then taking a course in medical coding may be all you need. There are lots of medical coding jobs out there. (It’s part of what’s wrong with our whole health industry. The administrative and paperwork overhead is weighing down the whole thing.) *ahem* Sorry about the soapbaxing there.
Yes, there are lots of jobs in the field. See if there are classes in medical coding. An entire degree is not necessary, but if you’re not expereinced in it, you’ll need a little training.
