I am an enterpreneur, staying in USA for 17 years. I want to start up a medical transcription business online from Bangladesh. The reason I want to do it is to create jobs for many educated jobless students, professionals, housewives etc like many companys in India did?? I have some experience in that field, I want suggestions to go into the right track. If somebody can help me in this purpose, I will be happy and may include him/her in my company with paid salary….Thanks
I do not know if it is appropriate to write for our self-promotion in response to your above question. However, I am taking the risk of getting a violation notice and providing the following information. Hope the readers would let this go without reporting (lol).
Please knock me if you need a helping hand to establish MT business online from Bangladesh since I had been working in two MNCs before and acquired some knowledge as to how to run shops from far away places than the mother company. I was taken as Maintenance Engineer and subsequently promoted as Shift Manager in the first MNC (1980-87). I also worked as Application Engineer in a famous Swedish MNC (1991-96).
I now own a small company established in 1993 and had been dreaming to be associated with big-time activities like call-centers by which many Indians could change their lot, which unfortunately we in Bangladesh were lagging due to our misplaced government policies/priorities. Wish you luck in your new venture and please do not hesitate to ask for any help you need to make your mission a success.
I am taking a medical transcription course online and I am thinking of buying an Acer netbook. Will it work well for this?
It depends. You will need a USB port for your foot pedal, and a port for your headset. You will need to be able to connect to the Internet, download files, and you should be able to print. I would recommend a fully loaded laptop.
You will need a good system anyway in order to work as an MT.
What is a good online medical transcription training program?
The Andrews School based out of Oklahoma is the best, imo. That’s the program I used and even though I didn’t complete it (couldn’t motivate myself to finish – I was working full-time) the materials and support were top notch. It’s also one of the most expensive… $3800. for the whole program when I was doing it about 6 years ago.
There’s two other programs I also kept coming back to out of all the programs I researched and they are: M-TEC and Career Step. These three were the best that I could find. http://www.careerstep.com/workathome/?uid=a0321 http://www.andrewsschool.com/ http://www.mtecinc.com/
Good luck – they are all excellent schools!
Pls give me info about medical transcription training centers in Mumbai and Chennai.
Have you considered training for medical transcription online?
If so, you could check out the top schools as they are probably the best and your chances of obtaining transcription work would be greatly improved if you are a graduate of one of these schools. The schools might possibly be more expensive than others, but you are almost guaranteed a job.
Good luck!

Career Step, Andrews and M-Tec.
Where is the cheapest online school to get medical transcription training and is it a good career for a guy?
I have a couple of male coworkers. I also have a few male friends and family members who work as Medical Transcriptionists. =) Most employers require years of exerience. HOWEVER, many will waive this requirement if you graduate from an AHDI ‘approved’ school.
AHDI is the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity – www.ahdionline.org (formerly known as the American Association for Medical Transcription). AHDI sets the standards for MT courses. Employers know that graduates of these ‘approved’ courses have gained the skills necessary to begin their career as an MT.
If your looking into Medical Transcription pay the extra in tuition to attend an ‘approved’ school. When I was researching school options, I called several MT employers. I spoke to their Human Resources departments and asked about getting started in the field. All of them recommended attending an AHDI approved program. Many people have received training through inadequate programs only to find out that they are unable to find a job.
I attended Career Step and received a job (at-home) less than a week after graduating. I’ve received several more job offers since, but have stuck with my original employer. It can be a difficult job, but I love it! I recommend CS because they are partnered with MANY employers, self-paced (you can finish in a few months or take as long as over a year or two), and more affordable than the other top 2 courses.
Plus, I have personal experience (and success) with the program. Attending your local community college will give you a good chance at a job in-house, but if you are wanting to work from home, an online ‘approved’ course is the way to go.
Good luck!

How Do I Find A home medical transcription Training Opportunity?
The first step to a successful home medical transcription career is a solid medical transcription training program. Fortunately, some of the best medical transcription training options are available online.
You are able to train at home to work at home as a medical transcriptionist. It doesn’t get much better than that!
However, it is a double edged sword. Home medical transcription training requires a commitment and a self starter personality. Training at home is not for everyone, just like working from home as a medical transcriptionist is not for everyone.

Where can I find an online medical transcription training course?
I am wanting to do medical transcrition work at home. I have already took one class doing transcription. But I have found out that I need more than just the one class to do this kind of work.
Does any one know of any courses online that are good to take for this work?
There are the “big 3″ schools known in medical transcription circles. If you go to one of them you are pretty much gauranteed an at home job from one the the big employers like Spheris. There are ALWAYS and I mean always debates going on any of the medical transcription boards.
Try http://www.mtstars.com , do a search to find more they have about 5 big sites with forums. They are always talking about which schools are the best, arguing about it, etc. I can’t tell you the one I went to because I don’t want to be advertising but I will tell you I got a job right away.
Spheris http://www.spheris.com has an agreement with the schools to hire grads.
Hope this helps.

I am looking into changing careers to medical transcription. I live in a small town and will need to train online. Where is the best place? How long will it take? What should I watch out for? How do I get a job after I graduate?
I live in a small town, as well. Not long ago, however, our community college offered a medical transcription course. It must not have been very popular, as they didn’t bring it back the next semester. Most employers require experience or participation in one of the top AHDI approved schools.
If you’re looking into Medical Transcription pay the extra in tuition to attend an ‘approved’ school. The top three schools are Career Step, Andrews, and M-Tec. Any one of these schools will be a great choice! Attending any other school would be a waste of your time and money. Many people have received training through inadequate programs only to find out that they are unable to find a job.
AHDI sets the standards for MT courses. Employers know that graduates of these ‘approved’ courses have gained the skills necessary to begin their career as an MT. —— AHDI is the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity – www.ahdionline.org (formerly known as the American Association for medical transcription).
I attended Career Step and received a job (at-home) less than a week after graduating. I’ve received several more job offers since, but have stuck with my original employer because of the flexibility they offer. Career Step is an AHDI approved program and they are partnered with many of the major MT employers. In other words, their graduates get the jobs.
Many companies require 2-3 years experience, however, a lot of these companies will waive this requirement if you graduate from the right school.
Choosing the right school is so important! They do offer financial aid and payment plans.
