What is a good online medical transcription training program?
The Andrews School based out of Oklahoma is the best, imo. That’s the program I used and even though I didn’t complete it (couldn’t motivate myself to finish – I was working full-time) the materials and support were top notch. It’s also one of the most expensive… $3800. for the whole program when I was doing it about 6 years ago.
There’s two other programs I also kept coming back to out of all the programs I researched and they are: M-TEC and Career Step. These three were the best that I could find. http://www.careerstep.com/workathome/?uid=a0321 http://www.andrewsschool.com/ http://www.mtecinc.com/
Good luck – they are all excellent schools!

Those are the same three online schools that I always recommend.
I trained for medical transcription through Career Step and was able to find a job as a new graduate within 2 weeks.
You could also check out http://www.ahdionline.org/scriptcontent/mtapproved.cfm for other recommended schools. To be able to obtain employment after graduation and with no experience, you will need to obtain training through a recognized program. There are a lot of companies that will not hire without experience, but there are quite a few who will allow you to test for them IF you have graduated from a quality program with good grades.
Good luck!

I went with Meditec.com. I liked it because it was thorough training but didn’t throw in the kitchen sink. I was able to finish the course in 4 months, and then went into their internship program and started working right away. It was fast and affordable.

Career Step partners with many colleges to offer their training so pricing can vary. One particularly inexpensive option is through Piedmont Community College. The entire Career Step program is offered for only $350. http://www.pccmed.com
