Yes, most places won't hire you if you do not have experience. Some places will hire you despite less experience as long as you attend a mt program that is AAMT certified. I have completed my mt course and have been looking for a couple months and the job search isn't getting easier. References :
MT is great…BUT technology is beating you to the punch. There are various programs out there that are voice recognized and will do this for the dr.s. Our office is run off of this type along with electronic med records etc… and all he does is speak into mic…it types what he says and hits save. Good luck on the hunt, but research before you spend the $. References :
That's true, being a good transcriptionist takes years of experience and of course places would rather hire someone with experience if they can. It just depends on where you live and what the job market is like there. I was able to get hired for transcription before I was even finished with college in a p.r.n. (as needed) position, which developed to part-time, which developed into a full-time job at a different place. You just have to get your foot in the door wherever you can. If that means filing in the medical records department for awhile, then go file and work your way up. If you have no experience in healthcare whatsoever, that will make it even harder to get a job. Try to get into it in some way! References : Current MT/coder
If your quality is good, experience is not a problem. Companies like http://www.andhrascribe.com are offering alreadytrained program . They will give you experience for freshers. This company is member of AAMT. You can see certificate on home page. References : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/askribeindia
