I am an enterpreneur, staying in USA for 17 years. I want to start up a medical transcription business online from Bangladesh. The reason I want to do it is to create jobs for many educated jobless students, professionals, housewives etc like many companys in India did?? I have some experience in that field, I want suggestions to go into the right track. I do not know if it is appropriate to write for our self-promotion in response to your above question. However, I am taking the risk of getting a violation notice and providing the following information. Hope the readers would let this go without reporting (lol).
Please knock me if you need a helping hand to establish MT business online from Bangladesh since I had been working in two MNCs before and acquired some knowledge as to how to run shops from far away places than the mother company. I was taken as Maintenance Engineer and subsequently promoted as Shift Manager in the first MNC (1980-87). I also worked as Application Engineer in a famous Swedish MNC (1991-96).
I now own a small company established in 1993 and had been dreaming to be associated with big-time activities like call-centers by which many Indians could change their lot, which unfortunately we in Bangladesh were lagging due to our misplaced government policies/priorities. Is there financial aid available to do medical transcription from an online school?
I am interested in seeking a certification in medical transcription so I can work from home, but do not wish to go back to (& can’t afford to) school full time for 2 years to do so and would like to get certified from a course such as Career Step or similar. To log in to the system, it’s usually double password protected. There are firewalls hooked up, and each person’s computer should be inspected to make sure there is no spyware on there. There is also no option for the person to print anything at home, even if the computer is hooked up to a computer, they can’t print off the system. I’m not sure what you mean by the rest of your question……

medical transcription is becoming a big trend in todays medical field. Especially with smaller MD offices.
They do not have the staff to do this task. So usually, one would have several MD offices on contract to do their transcriptions. Good money too. Local community colleges offer a course. In just a short time you could be certified. Check your local community college or look in the free ADs paper, like “thirty nickel”, or “green sheet” there is usually ads in them that could help you.

I am an RN with excellent typing and computer skills. I have not taken any medical transcription courses. I feel like I am completely capable of medical transcription, but will any company hire me without any actual courses? There are so many courses available online I can’t tell if they are a scam or not (does anyone actually find work after completing the courses).

No, no one will hire you except for possibly a small physician’s office. Hospitals and all online companies require knowledge in medical transcription itself, from schooling, as well as on-the-job experience in the field.

Anyone who says medical transcription is going to be obsolete is talking through his hat. Medical transcription is almost already a paperless job. Transcribed files are uploaded into the hospital records in the computer system.
The physicians refer/access them in the computer system as and when required. As someone already mentioned, there will always be tough dictators whose dictation is hard to understand and whose transcription would require lot of hearing skills and transcription experience. These physicians always require the skills of transcriptionists 24/7.

Medical Transcription is a job or career option that you really MUST consider!
Here we are facing an economic downturn and yet this industry is only likely to flourish. Never before has the world faced such a huge number of people reaching their retirement age.
Along with this comes the need for more health care and demand on all aspects of the health industry. What all this means is that the medical transcription field is expecting growth in a field that is already in demand!
The future for transcriptionists looks great…

Another term for a medical transcriptionist is a medical language specialist. Their work involves the act of converting voice recordings (dictation) from a health care professional into text documentation.
The work is suited to people with particular characteristics although anyone can be trained in medical transcription as long as they fit these basic requirements. A passion for medicine certainly helps.
My friend is going to school for medical transcriptionist! Shes got a really good head on her shoulders and she is already talking about buying a house and cars but I dont want her to get too over her head! Can someone help me out with salaries and the type of pay system they have you on??

Everyone thinks they can just become a MT and start working at home and have the easy-life, but that’s not at all how it works. It takes excellent schooling and years of experience to be able to work at home. And even if your friend is going to an *accredited* school where she will be able to get a good job, she certainly can’t rely on making the same amount every paycheck. It’s incredibly variable.
