How much do they make with Medical transcription wages? I looked it up on salary.com and it said around 30,000 a year. But I was wanting to know from actual people with experience in it or from people who know people who do it/have done it. Is it a pretty decent income? Is it really 30,000 a year starting?

I was a medical transcriptionist working from home for 13 years. My best year was $36K, but the best part was being able to work around home and family. Many transcriptionists get their training through a course of study while others carry their medical terminology knowledge with them from other health related fields. You would need to get the terminology down, and then get started.

Many companies want experience so there’s a catch-22. However, doctors and hospitals may be hiring, and after a time you can work from home as many transcriptionists do.
