Legit Medical Transcription Online Course?

I am looking to take a medical transcription online courses but don’t want to waste my time or get scammed by someone that isn’t legit. Does anyone know of a recognized online course that would be accepted by an employer. I am wanting to get started as soon as possible.

Career Step and Andrews School are the two best courses, have been around for many, many years. I went to Career Step and have been working at home since I graduated 5+ years ago. This is not something you can do “off the street.” If you get your education from a local college, you most likely will not be hired by national companies that allow you to work at home.

The curriculum is just not the same. In plain words — they don’t teach you what you need to know. Private school is the way to go. For example — you will learn the words “foramen” and “foraminal.” Then you will hear dictator say “foraminal valley.” Spell check will never pick that up as wrong. It is wrong. It’s foramen ovale. I believe Career Step course of $800-$1500.

There are different levels of enrollment, such as books or online. You can phone MedQuist. They will confirm that Medical transcription at home is legit and tell you the schools that are accredited by them and other national companies. Spheris is another big national company to work for. They’ll tell you, too.

Also, visit American Association for medical transcription online, get info there. Their site is www.aamt.org. www.medquist.com www.careerstep.com It’s a great line of work, very secure, good pay, flexible (although some companies have virtual timeclocks, unless they did away with that realizing what a mistake that is

I’m looking for a Medical transcription online course. I see a bunch, but does anyone know of a good one? Anyone know anything about the JER group and their online program…is it good?

Go to www.ahdionline.com for a list of approved schools. There is a certain criteria that medical transcription schools have to meet and this website has a list of the ones that meet that criteria.

There is A LOT of information you need to know to be a successful transcriptionist and most of the schools you’ll find online won’t teach you everything you’ll need.

The ones listed on this website are typically more expensive than ones you’ll find elsewhere, but if you’re getting a better education that will actually get you a job, it’s worth it. There are some great medical transcription online courses out there….

I would like to find a great Medical transcription online school. I would like to go straight from completing the course to working out of my home, so I can still be home with my 2 children. I was also wondering how difficult it is to get hired working from home if I’ve never had on the job training?

I took my course through Education Direct–I think they are called Penn Foster now–and I enjoyed every minute of it!! Going straight to completing the course into Home medical transcription work can be difficult, but it definantly can be done. Once you are finished with your medical transctiption training there are a couple sites you can go to to look for work.

I am wanting to start doing medical transcription from home and am looking for all the information on this I can get. If it’s worth it, etc…

I don’t know how much actual money you would make doing but do know that most all companies was 2 years of outside before companies will let someone do it from home. But from what I have heard, the money can be good but don’t know what this means in dollar amounts.

I have a work from home website and the companies I have even listed want people with experience.

I also belong to many work at home forums and people have stated this and have been upset to have taken online medical transcription and courses only to find out they need experience working in outside setting first before they can apply to companies who hire from home. I just thought I should mention this to you since you are interested in doing this from home.

I am just completing my online medical transcription course and was wondering how it works from home. I find the field of Pathology the most interesting and would love to work in thaf field, working from home. What I’m wondering is how it works, for instance, do I tap into a website to get the transcriptions?

I worked in the medical field (physician office and hospitals) for years and years. Most of the doctor’s I worked with didn’t use a service or website to hire for Home medical transcription. It was usually someone who came into the office with a flyer about their service and their prices.

Once hired, the person would come in at the end of the day and pick up the tapes for that day and would usually return them within 3 days. Most hospitals don’t hire independent transcription contractors. They hire employees who work from the hospital.

However, with telecommuting now becoming so popular, I would think a few calls to the HR dept. of several hospitals might just snag you a contract or two. You might also make a few calls to some labs in your area—you mentioned path is fascinating to you.

I think if you market yourself in the right way and you have competitive pricing you’d have a really good chance of convincing some of the smaller places to give you a chance at Medical transcription, even if that hasn’t been the norm for them in the past. Everyone is looking to save on costs right now!

If you have been searching for a work-at-home job, you have probably run into many of them. Remember, even if you don’t know how to do these things now, many are easy to learn and are worth considering.

Copywriting: Don’t let the word “writing” scare you. You don’t need a degree in English to be a copywriter. In fact, some of the most successful copywriters break most rules taught in high school English. The best thing about copywriting is that it can be very lucrative and requires very little in terms of education and experience.
